Ve Nguon Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in the late 1980s by a
group of young Vietnamese adults and college students living in the Eastern
states of the US. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for young Vietnamese
living abroad to meet, exchange experience, and learn from each other,
especially about the culture and traditions of Vietnam.
Currently, our main activity is the VeNguon Camp, which is held annually on the
Labor Day weekend.
Ve Nguon, loosely translated to mean "going back to our root", was
given from our very first camp in 1989 to convey the following messages:
- Ve Nguon is to learn, preserve, and promote Vietnamese culture and traditions.
- Ve Nguon is to go back to the beautiful and enriched culture and traditions
of Vietnam, and to the people of Viet Nam, to reflect the pleasant spirits and
the love for family, friends, and neighbors.
- Ve Nguon is to live with nature, love nature, and respect the surrounding environment.
- One does not need to visit Vietnam to go back to our root. Ve Nguon
encourages each individual to live a fulfilled life, empowered by and enriched
with cultures and traditions of Viet Nam, i.e leading a simple and pleasant
life, being open-minded, and accept diversities.
VeNguon Foundation does not affiliate with any political or religious
organization. Our fundings mainly come from donations and contribution from
our members, campers, and friends.
